Warm greetings.
We are pleased to invite you to the Institute for Future Strategy’s symposium, “One Year After the Declaration of Martial Law: A Critical Reappraisal of Korean Democracy.”
This event seeks to reflect on the past year since the enactment of martial law and to academically examine the challenges and structural pressures currently shaping Korean democracy. Discussions will address a range of topics including executive–legislative power dynamics, the political influence of traditional and digital media ecosystems, and the evolving role of the judiciary. Through these analyses, the symposium aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of Korea’s democratic trajectory and its future prospects.
A question-and-answer session and open discussion will follow each presentation, providing participants with the opportunity to further explore the issues raised.
Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2025, 14:00–17:00
Venue: Samik Hall (Room 220), SNU Asia Center
