Title
Economic Security Risk Analysis and Policy Development
Topic
-
The Economic Security Cluster has focused on establishing an empirical foundation for Korea's economic security strategy. The most significant achievement is the development of the supply chain dominance index based on export power and import vulnerability. Through this, we have built an analytical framework that can quantitatively measure the dynamics of economic security relationships between countries, and established a consistent annual data analysis framework at the industry, country, and product levels. We have also systematized index calculation formulas and preprocessing methodologies to enhance academic reproducibility and policy applicability.
Future research will further strengthen the practicality of economic security analysis by developing an integrated supply chain risk index based on the existing supply chain dominance index. We aim to evolve the supply chain dominance into a supply chain risk index that evenly reflects political, economic, security, and environmental risks. Additionally, we will set industry-specific customized economic security strategies as a core task, developing differentiated policies that reflect the unique supply chain structures of industries such as AI, semiconductors, automobiles, shipbuilding, energy, and petrochemicals. We will analyze the impact of the Trump 2.0 administration's tariff policies and establish a big data-based real-time Economic Security Alert Project (ESAP) to create a system that can respond swiftly to global policy trends.
