This article argues that Seoul National University (SNU) should repay the trust and support it has received from society by cultivating “good talent” who possess not only academic excellence but also a strong sense of social responsibility and commitment to the common good. The author emphasizes that SNU must practice noblesse oblige, strengthen cooperation with regional national universities, and ensure that initiatives such as the “Ten Seoul National Universities” project contribute to balanced development rather than downward equalization. The article also highlights the importance of internationalization through innovative policies and the strategic use of the Siheung Campus, while encouraging SNU to extend the benefits it once received through the Minnesota Project to developing countries. Furthermore, student welfare initiatives such as the “1,000-Won Breakfast” program are presented as examples of supporting students’ basic needs and fostering a community of individuals with cool heads, warm hearts, and a strong sense of responsibility toward society.
