AI Strategy Seminar Series
Artificial Intelligence and Carbon Neutrality Policy
Hosted by the Institute for Future Strategy, Seoul National University

Since May, the Institute for Future Strategy at Seoul National University has been organizing seminars to explore national strategies in response to the rapid spread of AI technologies. Previous sessions addressed issues such as private investment and government cooperation for AI development, as well as the legislative challenges surrounding AI. This session will focus on AI technologies and carbon neutrality policy.

Carbon neutrality is more than just an environmental issue—it is a global policy agenda that affects production technologies, international trade, and citizens’ lifestyles. Achieving effective carbon neutrality goals requires technological innovation, and in this context, AI plays an increasingly critical role.

In Korea, where manufacturing competitiveness is strong, carbon neutrality is directly tied to national competitiveness. AI technologies can contribute to advancing carbon neutrality policies through the generation and analysis of data, as well as by driving innovation in manufacturing processes to reduce carbon emissions. In this seminar, we will examine how AI is being applied to government data policies, carbon emissions information, and energy and petrochemical markets.

This event has been jointly prepared with the Carbon Neutrality Cluster of the Institute for Future Strategy. We hope this seminar will serve as a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how AI can help address real-world challenges and to support the formulation of a national AI strategy.
