“Strengthening Manufacturing Competitiveness through Digital Transformation: Innovation Strategies in Korea and Germany”

This issue brief presents in-depth expertise and insights into the present and future of manufacturing innovation strategies in Korea and Germany. Manufacturing in both countries has long been a core sector of their national economies, playing a central role in job creation, technological advancement, and strengthening export competitiveness.

However, amid a rapidly changing global environment, the manufacturing sector faces multiple challenges, including the need to improve productivity and secure sustainability. To turn these crises into opportunities, it is essential to redefine the structure and nature of industry through digital transformation—sustaining global competitiveness while creating new value.

Against this backdrop, this issue brief analyses Korea’s and Germany’s innovation strategies and digital transformation cases, and based on these findings, proposes complementary avenues for bilateral cooperation.
