“Challenging Questions for the Future of Korea’s Industry and Science & Technology: The Grand Quest 2025 Project”

This issue brief presents new national challenges for Korea to advance as an innovation-leading country. The Grand Quest Project aims not merely to solve existing problems, but to identify the “first questions” at a global level that can drive paradigm shifts in industrial and technological systems.

The project seeks to identify grand challenges solvable within 10 to 15 years, propose scale-up tasks that will allow Korea to leap forward as a global leader, and move beyond the role of a follower by putting forward original conceptual designs—thereby positioning the nation as an innovation pioneer.

The project identified challenging questions across ten key fields and, through systematic discussions with domestic and international experts, created opportunities for future generations and global leaders to explore solutions to these grand quests together.
