“Korea’s Great Power Strategy: Geopolitics, Supply Chains, and Innovative Growth”

In this era of profound transformation in the international order, the Republic of Korea must move beyond being a mere adaptor to become a designer and leader of a new global system. Whereas national power in the past was defined by territory and material resources, in the 21st century it is determined by a nation’s status and influence within global networks. Advances in cutting-edge science and technology have diminished the constraints of time and space, allowing Korea to evolve from a peripheral actor into a central hub within security, economic, technological, and cultural networks.

As geopolitical challenges intensify and U.S.–China strategic rivalry deepens, Korea must advance not only its material interests—in security, economy, and technology—but also its spiritual values—identity, principles, and culture. To achieve this, Korea should strengthen its alliance with the United States, engage North Korea, cooperate with Japan, and connect with China, thereby leading stability and innovation across the Indo-Pacific region. In short, Korea’s strategy must rest on four pillars: Korea–U.S. solidarity, North Korea engagement, Korea–Japan cooperation, and Korea–China connectivity.

Through these efforts, the Republic of Korea can establish itself as a central state in the global network and rise as a smart great power capable of transforming global crises into opportunities for innovation and leadership.
